One Piece Film Z + Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai

Happy Chinese New Year!!

But before I touch on anything else about that...

Hahahaha.. =]
I watched the One Piece movie!!!
It is so awesome!! though the story plot is not as awesome as the war to save Ace or during the two years training individually.
The graphics are nice, the last fight is so damned cool, their humor never fails to make all of us laugh.
In other words, I would love to watch this again!
Highly recommended! Of course, go watch the anime or read the manga first...
I'm liking Zoro more and more. Cause he is really really cool > <

It is a so-called sneak preview.
This movie cost $20, comes with a popcorn set, clear folder and red packets.

The website says there is a poster too, but when we went there to the counter,
they said that it is only for the previous sneak previews
and they are importing more posters in for the general screening.
What is this? Why is our timing so suay?
The people before us have posters and the people after us have posters.
I shall not be denied of this poster! D=
I wan the posterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr~~~~~ T-T

Went to watch the movie with Peifen.
After that, we didn't really have any other plans...
So we decided to go to Kinokuniya,
and we happened to see this Okinawa fair right in front of Takashimaya. =]
The good thing going out with Peifen is that she knows all sorts of things about Japan,
and she likes sharing them ^^
Thank God for her or I'll totally missed out on this.
Pretty ladies singing some local Okinawan folksong, very different from main Japan.
So she was sharing a little about the history of Okinawa,
and she said she knows a good place with Okinawan food.
So we were on our way again =]

Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai.
It is at the basement of Liang court.
The waiter and waitress are Japanese, but they speak English too.

She got herself stir fry bitter gourd with tofu.
Their local delicacy, which again, is quite different from the rest of Japan.

I got a more common dish, Pork slice with ginger.

Some new things to share.
Japanese do not only serve miso soups with set meals.
I think we were brought up to think that all the set meals comes with miso soup,
thanks to the Japanese food stores in Kopitiam and other fast food restaurants.
Come to think of it, the last time I was at Yomenya Goemon, they served clear soup too...
The clear soup, like a dashi stock or something, have this flower like thingy floating around.
That is not naruto, but a deco made of dough.

This below is peanut tofu.
Quite hard to be accepted, for me, and in general, I think.
It isn't salty or sweet, but there is a very strong sticky peanut taste.
But at the same time it's very different from peanut butter.
I think this is too hard to be described.
The texture is more like a pudding instead of tofu.
I rather eat this as a desert than side dish.
If you ever go there, all set meals comes with this, you should give this a try.
Quite interesting...
My friend said most of the time, for people trying out the Okinawan cuisine for the first time,
they'll usually have a stretch head moment and lots of question marks on their face.
Which I think, is very true.

This is one of the a lot more friendly side dish.
They call it Miso with chopped pork.
Like the miso paste mixed with pork floss.
You can eat a bowl of plain rice with this alone.
It is that good.

Pickled radish.
A very gentle pickled, not sour and suits me well.

The people in Okinawa loves pork.
Okinawa is known for their longevity, highest life expectancy rate in the world.
And I heard from somewhere before that their average age is above 100 years old.
And they call this longevity pork. 0o
Collagen instead of fats. But it sounds so logical = =

The place feels very country and homely, Asian rustic.
If Peifen didn't tell me I would not have known.
The hangers behind the seats are for businessmen to hang their suit.
Aren't they thoughtful!

The food is authentic, the people working here are local Japanese which I believe comes from Okinawa too.
A really great experience.
Under $20 per person, you get a set meal which is quite generous in their serving.
Unless you are there to drink
Not bad, I think =]

Thank God for Peifen and the movie, and the food.
God bless =]
